Storming The Weather

Hello stylish folks!!!

Its been a while since i shared my thoughts with you all but i have been busy with school work, and i kinda put this on the back burner for a little bit, but im happy to be back. So the rains are here again and they're pouring down hard. While its great for when you want to snuggle up under your favourite blanket with warm milk and cookies, its not so friendly when you're out and about as it can put a damper on your style, quite literally. Just beacause the weather is dull doesnt mean your style should be bland and dreary, oh no! what a crime that would be. There are loads of looks and weather proof attires that can jazz up your appearance and leave you looking as stylish as ever. Bad weather should be no obstacle to chic dressing.

Knit wearSweaters are not just for grandpa and christmas time  alone. Rock the collegiate look with a chic cardigan over your shirt and tie. Also fancy knit wear worn alone keeps you looking cool and feeling warm when the skies are grey.

Jacket and bootsPutting on a pair of boots and a killer jacket is a  cool way to raise your nose at the weather. Something about the look just makes you feel powerful. I have always been a sucker for boots and jackets, i guess its because of my secret obsession with the military, but...I'm too vain and iv got flat feet so there goes that dream.

Unbe'weave'able: Girls, and some very special guys...lol, reduce the number of weaves and extensions you've got in your hair. keeping your natural hair safe and good is hard enough when the heavens are pouring down, let alone taking care of a weave. Slick your hair back in a bun or a chignon and wear colourful head wraps and scarves for a fun look.

Plastic fantastic: Rubber and plastic are the way to go in these wet times. They are practical, fun, stylish and durable. Plus, rubber and plastic accessories come in a variety of colours and are water resistant.

Live in colour: When all is dark and gloomy, restore the fun in your life with a colourful ensemble. it puts you in a positive state of mind, trust me, fashion is that powerful.

White out: Try as much as possible to avoid white clothing, at least not head to toe. If you're a white lover like myself this is gonna be hard. Picture your favourite white pieces becoming  beautiful batiks, only in this case the dye is mud...lol, that should help.

'De'jewelled: Ease up on the jewellery. I know this sounds cliche, but with jewellery less is more this rainy season, unless you want to get struck by lightening because of excess jewellery. Of course not wearing any at all is unacceptable, so switch out your high end metallics for some costume jewellery. Corals, wooden beads and plastic accessories should keep you looking cool and make your real stuff last. I know they don't sound as fabulous as our platinum and gold pieces but when worn right can create magic, plus, they're inexpensive.

So dress up, have fun and STAY STYLISH, you never know who's watching.
